Zakharov Viktor Nikolaevich

(born 31.05.1948 Moscow)

Viktor Nikolaevich Zakharov is an expert in programming systems software.

In 1971 he graduated from the (M.V. Lomonosov) Moscow State University faculty of mechanics and mathematics; in 1974 successfully completed postgraduate education.

Scientific degrees: Candidate of Technical Sciences (PhD) 1979, Doctor[1] of Technical Sciences – 2011, title – “Associate Professor” (since 1997).

In 1974 – 1983 was working at the Institute of Electronic Control Computers (ИНЭУМ) as a “Junior Scientific Collaborator”, later “Senior Scientific Collaborator”.

Since 1984 till now – scientific secretary at the USSR Academy of Sciences Institute of Informatics Problems (between 1992—2015 the Institute of Informatics Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences – RAS, after 2015 – Federal Research Centre “Computer Science and Control” – RAS).

Main scientific activity: computer system software, fault-tolerant computer architectures, testing of hard- and software systems, distributed information systems, electronic libraries, self-synchronization.

Dr. V.N. Zacharov took part in development of operating systems DOS ASCE (ДОС АСВТ) and DOS ASCE-2 (ДОС АСВТ-2) for computers М-4030 and М-4030-1 with their subsequent transfer to ES computers series (ЕС ЭВМ). He also participated in working out and development of the Conception of Computation Systems New Generations – the last notable initiative of the East European (Socialist Countries) Community in the field of informatics and computing.

Dr. V.N. Zacharov authored more than 170 scientific publications. He is a member of editorial boards of the journals “Informatics and its Applications”, “Systems and Means of Informatics” (http://www.ipiran.ru/english/journal_Systems.asp), “Highly Available Systems”. Member of two dissertation councils.

He is decorated with the medal “850 years of Moscow” (1997) and the Medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland”, of the 2nd class (1999).

Notes.

1. The Russian Doctor of Science degree is the highest research degree in the country. Many scientists having that degree are professors.
